Singapore days!

It’s time to reflect on our (almost) 3 days in Singapore!
I think that Singapore was a really great place to start our adventure in Southeast Asia. It’s a super fascinating city with rich history. The mixture of Chinese, Malay, Indian and other ethnicities make Singapore so diverse. It’s modern, green, extremely humid, clean and safe. The city is known as „the Fine City” - the government really cares about the tidiness and safety, so they put up signs and warnings of possible fines anywhere you look- chewing gum, drinking and eating on the MRT (local tube)- especially the smelly durians are a no-go! Also don’t even think about getting into a fight in Singapore- you will regret it later…
On our first day we strolled around Chinatown, checked out different markets, visited a local Hindu temple where we saw a worship ceremony, explored the financial centre and moved onto the beautiful Gardens by the Bay. Well, everything would have been perfect if it wasn’t for the horrible jet lag that I was experiencing (no details necessary). I spent the afternoon resting while Peter was becoming a walking encyclopedia of random facts about Singapore on a walking tour. He really liked the experience and the tour guide who gave us some nice recommendations (more about that later). After we reunited, we grabbed dinner with friends (old friends for me, new for Peter) - not a bad place in the world for a meetup!
Yesterday we explored Little India which definitely gave us a taste of what visiting (big) India would feel like (to our parents- don’t worry we’re not going there anytime soon :P).
Later we went to the Marina Bay Sands area- the ArtScience Museum wasn’t meant to be, but what was meant to be was the casino that Steven (Peter’s tour guide) jokingly recommended to his group. Fun fact- completely free to enter for tourists but S$200 for residents. We entered with 10 Singaporean dollars, not really intending on spending them at first. Eventually we decided to exchange our fortune for two 5$ chips. Every game was either too expensive for us to enter or just didn’t look very appealing. In the end we looked at the roulette stations. Peter asked me about what my lucky number was- it’s 24; he went for 17 (these are the days we were born for those who don’t know). One last question before the start- „You know we will lose, right?” „Yep, it’s fine.”
Well the little ball decided to finish its course on number 17 and we won 180 dollars! Imagine our faces hahaha
We finished our evening at the 57th floor rooftop bar of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel enjoying drinks with an amazing view over the city. Gambling made us do it.
